OKLAHOMA - The Lady Comets went 0-2 in games played last week. The girls lost to Binger-Oney 48-29 at home, then traveled to Watonga with the boys and lost to the Eagles 60-22.

Extension Signed on Hunting and Fishing Compact

OKLAHOMA CITY – Governor Kevin Stitt announced on Friday that the State of Oklahoma has agreed to a one-year extension with the Cherokee Nation on the hunting and fishing compact that was set to expire on Dec. 31, 2020.

In a year with so much doom and gloom, a small glimmer of hope came when the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) allowed all teams into the first round of the high school football playoffs due to the way teams had to cancel many games this year due to coronavirus concerns. This set the scene for the game on Friday, Nov 13th in Wayne, Oklahoma as the Comets traveled once more this year to take on the Bulldogs in the opening round.

HINTON - Friends, family, and fans gathered this past Thursday, Nov 5th at the Hinton Dome to celebrate with the Hinton Comets softball team. This was not for a victory the team had had, but for one of their own, it was a victory like she had never experienced before.

HINTON - The Hinton Comets took to the field for the final time in the regular season this past Friday night, Nov 6th at Jim Seurer Field in Hinton, Oklahoma in front of a packed house to take on the Watonga Eagles. The Comets were still looking for their 1st district win of the season and to add another win to their totals. The last time the Comets won a game was way back on Sept 4th again the Hennessey Eagles 14- 13. The Comets did not get much rest between games, as they played earlier in the week in Crescent on Monday night.

The Hinton Comets hit the road for the final time during the regular season to take on the Crescent Tigers in Crescent this past Monday, Nov 3, 2020. The Comets were coming off a road loss to Tonkawa last week and have been looking for their first district win of the 2020 season. This game was originally scheduled to be played on Friday, Oct 30th, but due to the historic ice storm that left hundreds of thousands of Oklahomans in the dark last week, including Crescent High School, the game was rescheduled. As the game went under the lights, many residents in the area were still in the dark waiting for power to be restored.

Comet’s Football The Hinton Comets (1-4 on the year, 0-2 in district play) hit the road for the last time during the regular season on Friday, Oct 23rd north on I-35 to face the Tonkawa Buccaneers (5-1, 3-0 district play). The Comets were coming off a shutout loss last week against the OBA Eagles and were looking to get things going after a recent two week break due to Covid-19 related cancellations.

The Hinton Comets football team (1-3) returns to the field this Saturday, Oct. 17th at 2pm at Jim Seurer Field when the OBA Trojans come to town. The 4-2 (2-1 in district) Trojans will be the first team the Comets have faced since being placed in quarantine two weeks ago. The Comets are looking to come back from a 3 game losing streak on the road. The Comets have 3 more games left on the schedule against Tonkawa and Crescent before returning home to close out the season against Watonga. As of this writing, there have been no plans to make up any of the other missed games due to postponements.

Comets’ Cross Country and Football

HINTON - There have been some changes to the upcoming football schedule. This past Friday’s game against Stroud was canceled due to the team being put into quarantine for two weeks. This also means that this Friday’s game against Cashion has been cancelled. The game against OBA scheduled for Thursday, Oct 15 has been rescheduled to Saturday, Oct. 17 at 2:00 p.m.
