Drought Amplifies in the Hinton Area

Despite much of the eastern part of the state no longer being in a drought after recent rain, snow and ice storms over the past few weeks, Hinton and the majority of northwestern Oklahoma remains in the grip of extreme drought conditions or worse.

All of Caddo County as of the weekend remained in an extreme drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor in the most recent report released last Thursday. Extreme Drought conditions are the second worst category, only bested by Exceptional Drought which currently envelops parts of Alfalfa, Major, Woods, Woodward and Grant counties near the panhandle.
