Icy Storm Provided Much Needed Precipitation

Caddo County received a miniature ice storm, which provided some badly needed moisture this past week. In just the last week, parts of Oklahoma including Caddo County received nearly a months-worth of rain, dropping numerous counties off of the burn ban.

Hinton received more than an inch of moisture (1.39) the past 10 days compared to 0.03 inches in the month of January, according to Oklahoma Mesonet.

The moisture came from a combination of rain and freezing rain throughout the past week, which eventually led to ice stuck to windshields, wires and tree limbs. It also created heavy enough ice to create problems for local electrical provider PSO, as the Town of Hinton lost power Wednesday morning from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
