Comets Place at the State Meet

For the first time in Oklahoma Wrestling history, the top-five seeds from each Regional qualified for the State Tournament, meaning 140 of the best wrestlers from Class 3A competed in Oklahoma City this past weekend.

Four of those wrestlers came from Hinton as two placed at this year’s Tournament. Junior Brian Pastrana (3rd) and senior Ty Weathers (4th) came away as the Comets lone placers, bringing in 20 points for the Hinton squad.

Weathers made his thirdstraight appearance at the State Tournament, ending a fantastic Comet wrestling career. Weathers was one of two Comet wrestlers who technically qualified for the State Tournament but still had to win their first match to advance to the first round of the tournament. In the play0in match, Weathers defeated Vian’s Cruz Partain in a 4-2 decision.
