Norma Jean Gilbreath


Norma Jean Gilbreath was born on September 6, 1932 in Cushing, OK to Sival and Mable Cobb. She passed away on January 4, 2018 at the age of 85. Jean attended Cushing Schools and moved to Buffalo, OK to live with her sister, Jo Morris. She met and married Harry Rogers in 1949. She later married Sidney M. Gilbreath on February 15, 1968 in Juarez, Mexico. In 1967, Jean received her GED and graduated from Nursing School. She worked as a nurse at Hinton, Geary, Woodward, and El Reno nursing homes, retiring at the age of 75. Jean enjoyed horse races, gambling, and put taking care of people first. Most of the nurses at Grace Living Center were trained by her and call her "Mama Jean". She attended the First Baptist Church in Enid, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sival and Mable Cobb, her husband, Sid Gilbreath, 3 sons, Harry DeWayne Rogers, Shawn Gilbreath, and Larry Gilbreath, her siblings, June Meeker, Jo Morris, Ruth Davidson, and Gladys Johnston. Survivors Include: her children, Wally Gilbreath and wife Pam of Yukon, OK, Jim Gilbreath and wife Rhonda of Lefors, TX, Linda Gilbreath of Dallas, TX, and daughter in law, Christine Gilbreath of Geary, OK, her grandchildren, Chris Gilbreath of Geary, OK, Tori Shane Gilbreath of Claremore, OK, Shea Miles of Enid, OK, Shannon Parker of Waukomis, OK, her great grandchildren, Kyle Gilbreath, Kristen Gilbreath, Triston and Tatum Miles, Grant and Scout Parker, and Zane, Josiah, and Trinity Sletten, 2 sisters, Doris Robinson of Bakersfield, CA, Billie Rothchild of ID, and 1 brother, Cecil Cobb of Grants, NM, as well as many other relatives and friends.
