Sales and Use Tax Revenues See Decrease for Month of August

The City of Hinton saw an $5,351.17 decrease in sales tax revenue and net taxable sales for the month of August, according to an Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) report released earlier this past month.

The August distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from June business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from June 16 to June 30 and estimated sales from July 1 to July 15.

In sales tax, revenue in Hinton for the month of August came out to be $79,609.38, which is a little over a 6 percent decrease from last month’s total of $84,960.55. Also, it was up 5.8 percent from last August’s total of $75,260.72. Caddo County saw a slight increase in revenue ($6,970.34) compared to last month as totals came to in at $266,845.59, however, it saw more than a 16 percent increase from last August’s total of $234,352.64.
