Jimmie Ray "JR" Grigsby


Jimmie Ray "JR" Grigsby was born August 31, 1945 in Lookeba, OK. He passed away at his home in Midwest City, OK after a brave and hard fought battle with lung cancer at the age of 71. JR grew up in the Hinton area. He graduated from Hinton High School in the class of 1963. Soon after graduation JR enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He served his country for 4 years, 2 of which were in Vietnam. JR attended Southwestern Drafting School and began drafting homes, bridges and many other structures. He owned and operated a construction business working along side his dad, Donald McCumber. JR loved animals and fed a cared for every stray that would show up. He was a devout man of faith. He was the Director of the Faith Riders from First Southern Baptist Motorcycle Ministry. He was a talented musician, playing the guitar and drums.

Survivors include his parents; Don and Bertha McCumber of Hinton, OK, 5 children; Lisa McBride of Pennsylvania, Shelley Hays of Texas, Khristina Bartlett of Arizona, Mingyon of Gamboa of Indiana and Donnie Woolman of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, eleven grandchildren, 2 sisters; Frances Rickey of Oklahoma City, OK, and Sue Battershell of Edmond, OK, 4 nieces and nephews as well as a number of cousins other relatives and friends.

JR was preceded in death by his grandparents; Frank and Dixie Henry, Ollie and Iva Grigsby and Ed and Myrtle McCumber and sister, Donita Kay McCumber.

SERVICES: First Christian Church, Monday, November 21, 2016, 2PM, Hinton, OK

OFFICIATING: Mr. Randy Butler
